Wand: Oak and Hippogriff talon, 9 3/4 inches, rigid. Physical Appearance: Nevin is a scrawny beanpole of a boy. His skin is pasty white, his eyes are blue. His black hair is slicked down with greasy styling cream. Nevin's most prominent feature is his long, aquiline nose. He also loves to wear dark suits and pressed robes. Nevin takes pride in looking as presentable as he can. Biography: Nevin Weller has had a fairly dull life for a wizard. He's never been popular, except as a target for bullies. He comes from an average, middle class magical family. He, himself, is a middle child with two sisters, Lynette and Winifred. One is now a 7th year prefect, the other is three years away from starting Hogwarts. His father, Griffin Weller, does inventory for a broomstick manufacturer. Cordelia Weller, née Davies, Nevin's mother, is a homemaker. They live in the old Weller estate with his paternal grandparents and several cats. One, Pukis, was given to Nevin to take to Hogwarts. It's the laziest cat in the world. It does nothing but sit, sleep, and refuse to eat anything but kippers. Nevin's not even sure what gender it is, nor does he care to find out. He finds Pukis too tedious to fret over. His grandmother, Meredith Weller, née Powell, is a muggle who was rejected by her own kind for eloping with Nevin's wizard grandfather, Gawain. Thus, the family attitude toward muggles is at best, one of suspicion. They're not on Voldemort's side, but they would certainly hesitate to speak to any muggle who didn't have close ties to the wizarding world. Nevin spent most of his uneventful childhood absorbed by his various hobbies. Other kids have always thought of him as weird and geeky, so they have either avoided him or bullied him. He's not really traumatized by it, though he has developed a secret disdain for less-than-intelligent people. He's rather apathetic about everything except pursuing his collections and the idea of manipulating people into being on his side. Though he is a good student, Nevin has no direction in life. He just goes through the motions. Some might argue he isn't that intelligent. That he only does well because he has a sharp memory and gets his assignments and reading done quickly. Yet he does enjoy school, especially History of Magic as he finds goblins to be fascinating. This makes him "nerdy" enough to be picked on a great deal, but he has turned it to his advantage. Nevin is sly. (In fact, his lack of ambition is probably the only reason he's not in Slytherin.) He's figured out how to bribe bullies. He's convinced many not to pummel him by doing their homework for them. Nevin's since turned this into a lucrative operation, selling bewitched answer sheets and pre-done essays with handwriting disguise charms. He's even discovered jinxes to counter anti-cheating spells. Nevin then spends whatever money he makes on chocolate frog cards and supplies for his vast butterfly collection. All this has earned him some respect, but he still doesn't have much of a social life. Nevin is the quiet, nervous type. He doesn't put much effort into connecting with fellow Ravenclaws. His older sister being made a prefect is about the most exciting thing that's ever happened to him. Nevin doesn't really care though. He'd rather preserve and frame butterflies. Likes: Chocolate Frog cards, goblins, collecting butterflies and beetles, raising butterflies for his collection, wizard hospitals (though he has no desire to become a doctor in one), suits, making connections and profits. Dislikes: Getting beaten up, being called on in class, Pukis, muggles, people who don't put effort into their appearance, dunderheads, people who don't appreciate insects, people who are slow. Extracurricular Activities: Nevin "tutors" fellow students. Actually he does their homework and gives them answer sheets in exchange for money and/or a promise they won't beat him up or allow others to beat him up. Romantic history: Nevin would like a girlfriend, but has never had one. He's afraid every girl thinks he's too much of a geek to date so he's never asked one out.
